Extract Anything

Open a file and get its text, images, tables, URLs / e-mail / phone numbers, QR codes and barcodes, attachments and metadata, each with a count and the place it came from (file, page, sheet). What could not be extracted is explained. OCR is not supported.

How to use

  1. Drop files or press “Choose files” (PDF, docx / xlsx / pptx, images, HTML, text / CSV, EML and ZIP, mixed and several at once). You can also paste text or HTML. The format is detected from the content, not the extension.

  2. When extraction finishes, the tabs Text, Images, Tables, URLs / mail / phone, QR & barcodes, Attachments and Metadata show a count each. Open a tab to see what was found and where it came from.

  3. Anything that could not be extracted is explained above the tab (encrypted, scanned image, unsupported format …).

  4. Copy and save each kind (TXT, CSV, xlsx, JSON, ZIP). Images and attachments can be saved one by one or as a ZIP.

  5. “Save everything as one ZIP” puts all kinds into one ZIP (text, images, tables, attachments, metadata, links.csv, codes.csv, report.json).

What it does

Seven kinds in one pass

Text, images, tables, URLs / e-mail / phone, QR codes and barcodes, attachments / embedded files and metadata are shown in tabs on one screen, each with a count, so you see at a glance what was inside.

Always says where it came from

Every text, image, table, link and code is shown with its file name (“zip name/file name” inside ZIPs and mails) and page, slide or sheet, so you can trace it back.

PDF images: JPEG without loss

A JPEG embedded in a PDF is saved byte for byte, with no re-compression (a transparency mask is not carried, and you are told). Other images are converted to PNG. Images in Office media folders and data: images in HTML keep their original data.

Links and text URLs kept apart, de-duplicated

PDF link annotations, Office hyperlinks and HTML hrefs (“Link”) are shown separately from strings in the text (“Text”) and from QR content. Case and scheme are normalised and equal values are listed once. URLs are only displayed, never opened or fetched.

Explains what could not be extracted

Encrypted PDF or Office files, pages without text (scanned images), legacy formats (doc / xls / ppt), unsupported formats and anything over the limits are listed per file with the reason, so an empty result is never a mystery.

Nothing is opened or run

HTML is parsed with DOMParser: scripts do not run and no images or pages are loaded. Attachments can be saved but are never opened; executables and macros are flagged. A link whose shown text names a different site than its real target is flagged too.

Use cases

  • Take the pictures out of a PDF or Word file you received, without losing quality
  • List the links and the URLs, e-mail addresses and phone numbers written in a document, without duplicates
  • Turn the tables in Excel or Word into CSV for another tool
  • Look at ZIP or mail attachments and files embedded in PDF or Office without opening them
  • Read the QR codes shown on a poster or in a document, from a PDF or an image, in one go

Text from PDF, docx, pptx, xlsx, HTML and plain textSupportedPDF per page, xlsx cell values, pptx slides and notes
OCR (scanned PDFs, text inside images)Not supportedNot supported because it is too heavy. Pages without text are listed under “What could not be extracted”
Images embedded in PDFs (JPEG lossless)PartialJPEG / JPEG 2000 as they are; RGB, gray, palette and CMYK are converted to PNG (/Decode is applied). A JPEG / JPEG 2000 with a mask (transparency) is saved as it is, so the transparency is lost, and you are told. CCITT, JBIG2 and similar, mask images, images under 16px and data that inflates far beyond the image size are not extracted

Tables (xlsx, docx, pptx, HTML, CSV) saved as CSV / xlsxSupported—
Tables in PDFsNot supportedLeft out because the result would not be reliable. The text of a table is under “Text”

Limits & notes

  • Up to 20 files at a time, 100 MB per file, processed one at a time.
  • ZIPs and mails are opened one level deep (100 entries, 50 MB each, 300 MB in total). Nested ones are not opened.
  • PDF text covers the first 300 pages. Up to 200 images are taken per file, and images under 16px on a side are left out.
  • Tables up to 100,000 rows each; xlsx up to 3 million cells across all sheets; text and HTML up to 20 MB. Office XML is read up to 256 MB per file in total.
  • URLs, e-mail addresses and phone numbers are searched in the first 4 MB of each text, 12 MB per file and 20,000 hits; you are told when that cuts something off.
  • For QR codes and barcodes, the first 20 PDF pages are rendered and at most 60 images / pages are checked at a time.
  • OCR is not supported: text inside scanned PDFs or images and tables in PDFs are not extracted.

Privacy & safety

Reading, parsing, writing and zipping all happen in your browser. Files, their contents and names are never sent to or stored on a server. URLs, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and QR content are only displayed: nothing is requested and nothing is recorded in analytics.

FAQ

Can I get the images out of a PDF at their original quality?
If the embedded image is a JPEG, yes: it is saved byte for byte without re-compression. Other formats (raw samples compressed with Flate and similar) are converted to PNG. Some formats such as CCITT and JBIG2, and mask images, cannot be extracted.
Can it extract text from a scanned PDF?
No. OCR (recognising text in images) is too heavy for this tool and is not supported. Pages without text are counted under “What could not be extracted”. PDFs whose text you can select and copy are the target.
Can it extract tables from a PDF?
No. A PDF table can only be guessed from lines and text positions, so the result would not be reliable. The text itself is under “Text”. Tables in xlsx, docx, pptx, HTML and CSV can be saved as CSV or xlsx.
What is the difference between a link and a URL in the text?
“Link” is a destination embedded as something clickable: a PDF link annotation, an Office hyperlink or an HTML href. “Text” is a string written in the content. If the same URL is in both, it is listed once with both places shown.
Is it safe to open attachments and embedded files?
This tool never opens or runs an attachment; it only lets you save it. Executables, scripts and macros are flagged. Check where a saved file came from before you open it.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. URLs are not opened and link targets are not fetched.

Universal File Inspector

Drop any file to see its real format (from the content), its structure and metadata, what to watch out for, and which tools can process it — before opening it, or before sending it to someone.

Metadata Studio

A workbench for looking at, fixing and comparing the author, company, capture time and location stored in photos, PDFs and Office files. Every edit is re-read and verified, with a before/after diff. To just strip everything, use the dedicated remover tools.

Archive Studio — ZIP, TAR & tar.gz Viewer, Extractor & Creator

Drop a ZIP, TAR, tar.gz or gz to list what is inside — including ZIPs made on Japanese Windows whose file names are normally garbled. Extract safely, re-create a ZIP with UTF-8 names, or build a ZIP / tar.gz from folders. Everything runs on your device.

Batch Rename

Combine rules to rename files in bulk. Check old → new names live, catch duplicates and invalid names, then save renamed copies as a ZIP or into a folder. Files are never uploaded.

Duplicate Files

Load a whole folder and see groups of files whose content is byte-for-byte identical, with the space they waste. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is deleted: save the keep/duplicate verdicts as CSV or JSON and clean up with your own file manager.

File Hash — Checksum Calculator & Verifier

Drop a file to get its SHA-256 (and more); paste the published hash to see match or mismatch instantly. Even multi-gigabyte ISOs are read in chunks on your own device — nothing is uploaded.
