How to use
In “From an image”, drop, choose or paste (Ctrl+V) an image that contains a QR code or barcode.
To use a phone or webcam, switch to “Scan with camera”, click “Start camera” and hold the code in view.
Each detected code gets a numbered outline, and its format, content and byte length are listed alongside.
For URLs, check the “actual destination domain” and any warnings, then click “Open link” only if it looks right.
Copy any value with “Copy”. Everything you read is collected in this tab’s session history.
What it does
See the real destination before opening
URLs are never opened automatically. The domain that identifies the site owner (e.g. example.co.uk) is emphasised, and specific phishing signs are flagged: punycode (xn--), Latin/Cyrillic mixing, “@” tricks, URL shorteners, raw IP addresses and plain http.
Multiple codes per image
Finds every code in the image and marks its position with a numbered outline. Rotated, inverted and mirrored codes are supported, and pasted screenshots are read instantly.
Content broken down into fields
Wi-Fi (SSID, security, password), contacts (vCard/MECARD), email, phone, SMS, location, calendar events and 2FA otpauth links are shown field by field. Passwords and secrets stay hidden until you click “Show”.
Continuous camera scanning
Switch front/back cameras and use the torch where supported. Decoding runs in a background worker, throttled to a few times per second so the page stays smooth, and pauses while the tab is hidden.
Product code checks
EAN/UPC check digits are validated, ISBNs (978/979) are recognised and common GS1 country prefixes are shown.
Use cases
- Read a QR code shown on your PC screen or in a screenshot without reaching for your phone
- Check where a QR code on a letter or flyer really leads before opening it
- See the SSID and password inside a Wi-Fi QR code to type them on a laptop
- Read a product’s EAN/UPC and confirm the check digit
- Turn a sheet of labels with several codes into text in one go

Capability matrix
| Feature | Support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Read from images (multiple codes, positions) | Supported | — |
| Continuous camera scanning, front/back switch | Supported | — |
| Camera torch | Partial | Only where the browser exposes torch control (e.g. Chrome on Android) |
| Warnings for risky URLs | Partial | Based on the URL’s form (domain, scripts…). It does not query blocklists or check the site itself |
| Wi-Fi, contact and event fields | Supported | — |
| Auto-join Wi-Fi or save contacts | Not supported | Browsers cannot do this; copy the values instead |
| Resolve the final target of short URLs | Not supported | Would require a network request |
| Creating QR codes | Not supported | This tool only reads codes |
Limits & notes
- Images up to 30 MB. Images with a long edge over 3000 px are downscaled before decoding.
- Very dense barcodes, blurry photos or strong glare may not be readable.
- Camera decoding runs at most about 5 times per second to keep the device responsive.
- Domain emphasis uses a built-in list of common public suffixes (co.jp, co.uk…) and is approximate.
- History is kept only in this tab’s memory and is lost when you close the page.
Privacy & safety
Images, camera video and decoded content are processed entirely in your browser (WebAssembly) and never sent to a server. URL safety checks do not contact any external service. History is not stored and is cleared when you close the page.
