Video Target Size

To bring a video close to a set size, choose the video and a target (8, 10, 25, 50 or 100 MB, or a custom size). The bitrate is calculated from the target, and if the result is over, it is lowered and tried again. The file is never uploaded.

or

Choose a video and set the target size. Limits depend on the device: 2 GB and 4 hours on a PC, 300 MB and 1 hour on a phone.Accepts: MP4 / M4V / MOV / WEBM / MKVPaste (Ctrl+V) also works

How to use

  1. sports-day.mp4180 MB

    Add a video

  2. sports-day.mp4target 25 MB

    Choose a target size (e.g. 25 MB)

  3. sports-day_25MB.mp4180 MB → 25 MB

    Encode to fit, then save

Compress a video to fit a target file size, then save it
  1. Drop a video, or click “Choose file”.

  2. Choose a target size (8, 10, 25, 50 or 100 MB). Any other size can be typed in “Custom size”.

  3. Optionally choose an output format. Only the ones this browser can write (H.264 MP4, VP9 or AV1 WebM) are listed.

  4. Click “Compress to this size”, then check the size and the playback before you save.

What it does

Bitrate worked out from the size

Divides the target by the length, takes off the audio share and a 4 % reserve, and sets the video bitrate.

Tries again when over (up to 3 times)

If the result is over the target, the bitrate is lowered and the video is written again. If lowering the bitrate no longer shrinks it, the resolution is lowered one step too. Each try's resolution, bitrate and size are shown.

Warns when the picture gets too soft

A low bitrate also lowers the resolution. A warning is shown when the short side drops below 480 px.

Compare before you save

Plays the original and the result side by side, with size, resolution and bitrate.

Processed only on your device

The video is read and converted by your browser, never sent elsewhere. You can stop part way.

Use cases

  • Fit a long video under 25 MB for an email attachment
  • Meet a “10 MB maximum” limit on a form or in a chat
  • Send a video to a service that has a fixed size limit
  • Make a video lighter to a set size before posting it

Limits & notes

  • Up to 2 GB and 4 hours per file on a PC. Phones: 300 MB and 1 hour (the target has the same limit).
  • Sizes are counted as 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes. A target from 0.01 to 2000 MB can be typed.
  • A very small target for a long video makes the picture rough.
  • Processing time depends on the device, and each retry takes more time.

Privacy & safety

Reading, compressing and saving all happen in your browser. The file is never sent to a server.

FAQ

How do I make a video 25 MB or smaller?
Choose the video, choose “25 MB” as the target and click “Compress to this size”. Check that the result is within 25 MB before you save.
Is the target always reached?
The bitrate is worked out with a margin, and if the result is still over, it is tried again up to 3 times. If it is still over, the tool says so and shows the size.
How many bytes is one MB here?
One MB is 1,000,000 bytes. Some devices show file sizes in other units.
How much quality is lost?
The smaller the target, the lower the bitrate and often the resolution. A warning is shown when the short side drops below 480 px.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is processed in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Why is a format missing from the list?
Writing H.264, VP9 and AV1 depends on the browser and the device. Formats that are not listed cannot be written in this browser.

Video Compress

To make a video smaller, choose the video and a quality preset (High, Medium or Small). Resolution, frame rate and bitrates can be changed one by one. Compare the size, resolution and playback before and after; the file is never uploaded.

Image Target Size

To get an image under 200 KB, 1 MB or another limit, pick the target and add the image. The best-looking JPEG or WebP that fits is found automatically: quality is lowered first, and pixels are reduced only if that is not enough. Nothing is uploaded.

PDF Target Size

Pick a target (under 1 MB, for example) and drop a PDF. The tool looks for the highest image quality that fits and shrinks images only if it must. Sizes are counted as 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, so the file fits whichever way the site counts. Your PDF never leaves your device.

Video Converter, Rotate and Crop

To change only the container, the picture and sound are copied as they are, so the quality stays the same and it is quick. MP4 and MOV can store the rotation without changing the picture. To make a wide video vertical (9:16), fit it with a blurred background or black bars. Your file is never uploaded.

Video Trim and Join

To keep only part of a video, set the start and end on the timeline and press “Add this part”. Put the parts in any order and save them as one video. Videos of the same format keep their quality.

GIF Maker

To make a GIF from part of a video, choose “From video”, set the start and end, pick a frame rate and size, and press “Make the GIF”. To join several images, choose “From images”. You can check the GIF in a preview before you save it.
