Image Editor

Annotate a screenshot or photo, reliably hide what must not be seen, tune the colours and export — on one screen. Made for how-to guides, bug reports and social posts. Your image is never uploaded and exports carry no metadata.

On-device・No upload

Your files and input are processed only inside your browser on this device and are never uploaded to our servers.

Your image is processed in this browser and never uploaded. You can also paste with Ctrl+V.Accepts: PNG / JPEG / WebP / AVIF / GIF (still) / BMPUp to 50 MB per filePaste (Ctrl+V) also works

How to use

  1. Drop an image or click “Choose files”. You can also paste from the clipboard with Ctrl+V (“Try a sample” loads a screen full of made-up personal data).

  2. Pick an arrow, rectangle, text, number marker and so on from the toolbar and drag on the image. With “Select”, click an annotation to move it, resize it, change its colour and width, or reorder it.

  3. To hide something, drag a region with “Fill”, “Mosaic” or “Blur”. For text and personal data, use Fill.

  4. On the “Adjust” tab, tune brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, sharpness and grayscale, and rotate, flip, crop or downscale to a long edge if needed. Hold “Compare with original” to see the original picture.

  5. On the “Export” tab choose PNG, JPEG or WebP, the quality and a file name, then download or copy to the clipboard. Made a mistake? Ctrl+Z steps back.

What it does

Hiding that really hides

Fill overwrites the area with an opaque colour. Mosaic replaces it with block averages sized to the picture and blur with a strong blur, so the exported image holds no original pixels. Mosaic and blur can still leave room for reconstruction attempts, so Fill is recommended for text and personal data.

Annotations you can still edit

Arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, pen, highlighter, text (any language, background band, bold) and number markers stay separate objects until export. Select, move, resize, recolour, change the line width, reorder, duplicate or delete them. Markers are numbered in creation order and renumber when one is removed.

Light history and compare

History is an operation log of only what changed (up to 200 steps), not pixel snapshots, so large images do not eat memory. Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z undo and redo, and holding the compare button shows the original.

Export independent of zoom

Export always renders at the original resolution (or your chosen long edge), whatever the zoom or pan. The on-screen preview processes only the visible area. Export runs in small slices with a progress readout and a cancel button; PNG uses the browser’s own encoder, so it is fast (under a second at 6000×4000 here), while “Optimise the PNG”, JPEG and WebP can take a while on large pictures.

Keyboard and touch

Shortcuts switch tools, move, delete and zoom; arrow keys move the selected annotation. The canvas is labelled and announces the selection to screen readers. Draw with touch, and use two fingers to zoom and pan.

Use cases

  • Add numbered step markers and arrows to screenshots for a how-to guide
  • Black out names, email addresses and API keys in a bug-report screenshot before sharing
  • Pixelate faces or number plates in a photo you post online
  • Brighten a dark photo, balance the colours and downscale it before sending
  • Highlight part of a screen and add a caption with a coloured text band

Limits & notes

  • Images up to 50 MB and 40 megapixels can be opened.
  • Exports are limited to 16,384 px per side and 40 megapixels. Safari on iPhone/iPad may fail above about 16 megapixels (use “Downscale (long edge)”).
  • Undo covers up to 200 steps. Closing the page or opening another image discards your edits; there is no saving or re-editing.
  • Mosaic and blur remove the original pixels from the exported image but can leave room for reconstruction attempts. Use Fill for text, faces and personal data.
  • Exported images contain no EXIF (date, location, device) or colour profile and are in sRGB. Orientation is applied when the image is opened.
  • Sharpen looks slightly different at other zoom levels; check it at 100%.
  • Animated images (GIF / APNG / animated WebP) are not supported.

Privacy & safety

Opening, editing and exporting all happen inside your browser. Your image, annotations and typed text are never sent to or stored on a server. Clipboard images are read only when you paste.

FAQ

How do I reliably hide personal data in a screenshot?
Cover it with “Fill”. It overwrites the area with an opaque colour, so the exported image holds nothing of the original text. Mosaic and blur, even when strong, can leave room for attempts to reconstruct text from its shapes, so use Fill for names, email addresses, API keys and account numbers.
Can mosaic or blur be undone?
The exported image keeps none of the original pixels and this tool cannot restore them. However, techniques exist that estimate the original text from a mosaic or blur result. That is why mosaic here defaults to large, picture-sized blocks and blur to a strong setting — but for important text use Fill, and for faces choose a generous area and raise the strength.
Can I add numbered markers for a how-to guide?
Yes. With the “Number” tool, click on the image to place round markers 1, 2, 3… in creation order. Deleting one renumbers the rest automatically. Change colour and size in the settings panel and combine them with arrows and rectangles.
Does the exported image keep EXIF such as location?
No. Exports are built from the pixels redrawn on screen, so metadata such as date, location and device name is not included. Orientation is already applied and colours are sRGB.
Can I paste an image from the clipboard?
Yes. Copy a screenshot, then press Ctrl+V (⌘+V on Mac) on this page. After editing, “Copy to clipboard” copies the result as a PNG. Copying works only in browsers that can write images to the clipboard; otherwise use download.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. You can draw, move and resize with touch, and zoom and pan with two fingers. Large photos can fail to export on iPhone/iPad because of memory limits, so choose “Downscale (long edge)”.
