Extract PDF Pages

Gather just the pages you need from one or more PDFs into a single PDF (or one PDF per source file in a ZIP). Pick by thumbnail, range or text search, and leave out blank pages automatically. Your PDFs are processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Drop PDFs or click “Choose files” (several are fine). The pages of every file appear as thumbnails.

  2. Pick pages: click thumbnails (Shift+click for a range, Ctrl/⌘+click to add), type a range like 1-3, 5, 8- under “Page ranges”, or use “Text search” to find pages that contain words.

  3. If blank pages are mixed in, run “Blank pages”, then tune the threshold and review the flagged thumbnails.

  4. Under “Pages to output”, check the order (file order or selection order) and drag or use the ← → buttons to reorder.

  5. Choose “One combined PDF” or “One PDF per source file (ZIP)” and click “Extract and create PDF”. Check the result thumbnails and download. report.csv records where each page came from.

What it does

Select across several PDFs

Pages from all files sit on one screen, and clicks, ranges and search results combine across files. Add to, replace or remove from the selection.

Find pages that contain words

Searches the text embedded in the PDF. Ignore case and full-width / half-width differences, and choose AND or OR for several words. Japanese matches regardless of line breaks or stray spaces in the PDF text.

Blank page detection

Pages are drawn small and nearly white ones are flagged. The threshold (0–2%) is adjustable and based on a per-page figure, so you can review thumbnails and fix any page by hand.

Choose the output order

Output in file order, or in the order you picked. In selection order you can drag pages or use the buttons to reorder.

Record of source pages

report.csv maps each output page to its source file and page number. One-PDF-per-source-file output (ZIP) is available too.

Original quality

Pages are rearranged without re-rendering, so image quality and searchable text stay as they were.

Use cases

  • Pull the contract and invoice pages out of a long scanned bundle and combine them into one PDF to submit
  • Collect every page that mentions a customer name or case number across several PDFs
  • Drop the blank backsides that duplex scanning leaves in a PDF
  • Keep a record (report.csv) of which file and page each output page came from

Limits & notes

  • Up to 300 MB per file, 1 GB in total and 100 files at a time. Larger files use more browser memory.
  • Text search covers the text embedded in the PDF. Image-only (scanned) pages are not searched; OCR is not supported.
  • Blank detection draws each page at up to about 480 pixels and measures the share of pixels at least 20 levels darker than the page’s own background (its median brightness), so a grey sheet is judged by its difference from its own ground. A page that is uniformly dark is not judged blank. Dirty scans, noise or faint watermarks may need a different threshold or manual changes.
  • Digital signatures and form input are not carried into the output. Bookmarks are carried over only when they lead to extracted pages.
  • A link between pages is kept only when its target page is also in the output, and is then re-pointed at that page (named destinations are resolved too). Links to pages left out are removed, so nothing from pages you did not select can end up in the output.
  • Layer (OCG) visibility settings are not carried over; content of a layer that was hidden may be visible in the output.
  • Text search matches across line breaks by default, so wrapped words are found, but a false hit is possible (e.g. “国会” in “外国” / “会社” on two lines). Check the “Match” badges on the thumbnails. Turn the option off to match within a single line only.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Privacy & safety

Viewing, searching, extracting and saving all happen in your browser; neither your PDFs nor your search words are sent to a server.

FAQ

How do I pull only the pages I need out of PDFs and combine them?
Open the PDFs, select pages by clicking thumbnails or typing a range such as 1-3, 5, 8-, then click “Extract and create PDF”. Open several PDFs at once to combine pages across files.
Can I extract only the pages that contain certain words?
Yes. Enter words under “Text search”; pages whose embedded text matches are marked and “Pick matching pages” selects them. Choose AND or OR for several words. Scanned, image-only PDFs have no text, and this tool does not support OCR, so they cannot be searched. Matching runs across line breaks, so a false hit across a line break is possible; check the “Match” badges (the option can be turned off).
Can blank pages be removed automatically?
“Blank pages” judges whether each page is nearly white and can leave flagged pages out of the output. The threshold is adjustable, flagged pages are labelled on the thumbnails, and you can fix any page by hand.
How is this different from “Split PDF”?
“Split PDF” divides one PDF. This tool collects the pages you need from several PDFs into one, with text search, blank-page exclusion, and selection and ordering across files.
Are bookmarks, links and forms kept?
Annotations such as notes and highlights and links to external URLs are kept. Links between pages are kept only when their target is also in the output (and re-pointed at it); the others are removed. Bookmarks are carried over when they lead to extracted pages; digital signatures are not. Forms keep their appearance but can no longer be filled in.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Viewing, searching and extracting all happen in your browser.
