Phone Photo to Scan PDF

Take a photo of a page or pick one. The corners are found automatically, the page is flattened to a straight-on view, shadows are removed, and pages are combined into one PDF. Photos never leave your device.

How to use

  1. Use “Take photo” on a phone, or choose / drop photos (multiple pages; you can add more later).

  2. Drag the four corners of the frame onto the corners of the paper (they start from the automatic estimate). A magnifier appears while dragging; arrow keys nudge a focused corner.

  3. Open “Result” to check the look, then pick colour, grey, black and white or original — per page or for all pages at once.

  4. Choose the paper size (match the photo, A4 or Letter), margin and quality, then click “Create PDF”. You can also export JPEGs as a ZIP.

What it does

Finds the corners, lets you correct them

The sheet outline is estimated from a downscaled copy and used as the starting frame. If none is found, the whole photo is the start. Corners can be dragged with a magnifier or moved with the keyboard.

Straight-on view (homography)

The four corners define a perspective transform to a rectangle. The aspect ratio is estimated with perspective taken into account and snapped to A4 (same as A5, B5) or Letter when within 8% (switchable back to “As estimated”; receipts and other non-standard shapes are left alone).

Black and white that survives shadows

Paper brightness is estimated locally and used as the reference, so text stays black even when one side of the photo is dark. Black-and-white pages are stored as 1-bit images: crisp text and small files.

Large photos without crashing

Editing uses a downscaled copy; on export each full-size photo is read and processed one at a time inside a Web Worker, so the page stays responsive.

Use cases

  • Photograph a receipt or contract and submit it as a PDF
  • Turn a skewed photo of a document into a straight A4 PDF
  • Make a shadowed textbook or notes page readable in black and white
  • Combine a multi-page document into one PDF for email or an application form

Limits & notes

  • Up to 60 MB and 120 megapixels per photo, 60 pages in total. Larger photos and more pages take more time and memory on export.
  • Output is never enlarged beyond the photo’s resolution. Quality presets: High 300 dpi (long side up to 3,508 px), Standard 200 dpi (2,480 px), Small 150 dpi (1,754 px).
  • Automatic corner detection is not perfect. Always check the result and move the corners if they are off.
  • The size shown before exporting is only an estimate; the real size depends on the page content.

Privacy & safety

Reading, correcting and building the PDF all happen on your device; photos are never sent to a server.

FAQ

The corners are not found automatically
When the paper and the background are similar in brightness, detection does not work and the whole photo is the starting frame. Drag the round handles onto the paper corners. Shooting on a darker surface helps.
My iPhone photo will not open
HEIC files are not supported. Photos taken with this page’s “Take photo” button normally arrive as JPEG. For photos already saved as HEIC, convert them to JPEG first.
Text looks faint in black and white
Raise “Text darkness” so lighter strokes stay black. If background blotches turn black, lower it.
How do I make the PDF smaller?
Choose the Standard or Small quality, or the black-and-white finish. Black and white is stored as a 1-bit image, so an A4 page is often tens of KB to around 100 KB. You can also send the result straight to the PDF compress / target-size tools.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything is processed in your browser.
